First Masters Experience

Fairway Reflections with Scottie the Caddie:

By the grace of God, in late March 2024, a close friend of mine secured two Masters badges for April. I managed to lock in the badges for the first half of the day on Thursday, April 11. One of the coolest moments of my life was calling my brother—an avid golfer—to tell him I had two badges and all he had to do was fly down from New Jersey. Just like that, we were set to experience Augusta National together.

Heading into Masters Thursday, the forecast called for severe storms from Wednesday into early Thursday. Worried was an understatement. My badge window ended at 2 p.m.—rain or shine—and if the gates didn’t open, we’d miss everything. After a long night of concern, prayer, and refreshing the radar more times than I care to admit, the weather broke. The gates opened at 10 a.m., and we were in.

Stepping onto Augusta National was nothing short of a spiritual experience. There’s truly nothing like it. We walked and talked our way down the entire back nine, soaking in the history and replaying some of the most iconic Masters moments. Then we looped the front nine in reverse, caught a few shots live, and eventually headed out to pass the badges off to friends who had the second half of the day.

As we continue sharing our journey through Links & Lifestyle—why it was born and what it means to us—you’ll start to see how coming to know Jesus has reshaped our lives in the most meaningful ways. This Masters opportunity felt like one of those moments where everything just aligned.
